PLANTATION, Fla. - Baylor men's tennis junior Julian Lenz dropped a 7-5, 6-0 decision to world No. 279 Christian Lindell in the singles final of the USTA Men's $10K Plantation Community Tennis Open Monday.
The match, which began on Sunday at the Frank Veltri Tennis Center, was suspended due to weather with the first set tied 3-3.
It was the third career Futures final for Lenz, who beat three players ranked in the ATP Top 500 [Gonzalo Escobar (No. 313), Nicolas Barrientos (No. 309), and Benjamin Balleret (No. 497)], plus one highly ranked collegiate player [Aron Hiltzik (No. 62 in ITA Rankings)] to reach the championship match.
Lenz is now 11-2 in his last 13 professional event matches.
