Final Stats

THE RUNDOWN
NORMAL, Ill.
- Baylor soccer suffered a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Illinois State on Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field. The Bears (5-3-0) were unable to hold onto a 1-0 lead as the Cardinals (5-3-0) scored two unanswered goals for the win.

BU got off to the start it wanted as Ashley York broke the game open with a 25-yard strike to the back of the net in the 14th minute. Heading into the game, the Bears were 16-0-0 when scoring first since 2013.

However, the trademark Jobson defense had a rare game in which it could not protect a 1-0 lead. In the 31st minute ISU's Hannah Leinert set up Rachel Tejada for the game-tying goal. The teams went to half with shots tied 9-9, BU leading in corners 2-0 and ISU leading in shots on goal 6-4.

In the second half, neither team scored to force overtime. In the second period, ISU led in shots 5-4 and shots on goal 2-1 while BU led in corners 2-1.

In overtime during the 94th minute, it was the same duo at work for the Cardinals as Leinert set up Tejada again for the game-winner.

TWEET OF THE GAME

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"Ashley [York] scored a great goal early in the run of play. It was a pretty even match. They have two great players that combined on their goals. They got it when it counted. We have to play 90 minutes whether you're up or down; have to continue fighting. We have to get back to work, learn and move on to keep getting better." - Co-Head Coach Paul Jobson
