No. 9/9 Baylor Hosts Stephen F. Austin...
The ninth-ranked Baylor Lady Bears host the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m.
Baylor is 7-1 on the season after posting a home win over Idaho on Wednesday, 88-70.
The game will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest with veteran broadcaster John Morris calling the action while Jim Haller provides color analysis.
The Ladyjacks bring a 5-3 record, including a 1-2 road mark, into Sunday's contest. Sophomore guard (5-6) Taylor Ross leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game, while senior center Porsha Roberts, a 6-2 Waco native and La Vega HS graduate, leads SFA in rebounding with 9.1 rebounds and manages 16.3 points per game. SFA is coached by head coach Brandon Schneider, he owns a 77-61 (.558) mark in five seasons along the SFA sideline.
Balanced Attack...
The Lady Bears are experiencing balanced scoring so far this season. Six of the team's 11 players who have scored this season are averaging 8.5 or more points a game including four Lady Bears who are scoring in double digits.
Sophomore forward Nina Davis leads the way with 22.3 ppg, post Khadijiah Cave follows with 15.9 ppg, sophomore guard Imani Wright scores 11.9 a contest and freshman forward Dekeiya Cohen manages 11.2 ppg.
Four players are excelling on the boards this season. Davis leads the team with 7.97 rebounds a contest while junior post Kristina Higgins manages 7.4 rpg, Cave follows with 7.1 rpg, and Cohen hauls down 5.7 rpg.
Five BU players are averaging 2.5 assists per game or higher. Junior guard Niya Johnson dishes out 7.5 apg, sophomore guard Ieshia Small follows with 5.2 apg, Wright doles out 2.9 apg and freshman guard Kristy Wallace manages 2.5 apg.
