THE RUNDOWN AMES, Iowa - The NCAA Tournament bound Iowa State Cyclones swept Baylor 26-24, 25-17, 25-15 Saturday night at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones hit .360 for the match and hit over .400 in each of the last two sets on the way to victory.
Iowa State (18-9, 10-6) avenged an Oct. 25 loss to Baylor (14-17, 4-12) by combining for just five attacking errors in the final two sets to beat the Bears in the final regular season match of the season.
Ciara Capezio had 11 kills on a .409 hitting percentage while Alexis Conaway hit .769 with 10 kills and no errors on 13 attempts. In the losing effort, Andie Malloy, Adrien Richburg and Katie Staiger all had nine kills apiece.
All four Baylor seniors played in the match with Nicole Bardaji, Tori Cox, Hope Ogden and Jordan Teel suiting up for the final time. Baylor finished 4-12 in the Big 12 for the second-straight year.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Andie Malloy, Katie Staiger and Adrien Richburg had nine kills apiece in the loss for Baylor.
? Amy Rosenbaum had 18 assists and Morgan Reed had nine to help pace the Bears' .229 hitting effort.
? Malloy had 11 digs, which led Baylor; she was one kill shy of a double-double, but her 17 double-doubles was second in the Big 12 during the regular season.
