Coleman Named Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week

TYLER, Texas - Baylor sophomore receiver Corey Coleman was named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in a 48-14 win over No. 15 Oklahoma.

Coleman was the leading receiving for the Bears with 15 catches for 224 yards. He accounted for two touchdowns and 231 all-purpose yards. His receptions and receiving yardage were career-highs and the second-best efforts in a game in program history.

The 224 yards were also the second-most in the Big 12 this season. Coleman scored his first touchdown on a 33-yard catch in the second quarter. He then added his first career rushing touchdown on a five-yard scamper in the third quarter. In the game, he extended his nation-leading streak of catching at least one TD pass to six games. The sophomore registered his fourth career 100-yard receiving performance and leads the conference with 132.7 receiving yards a game.

The Richardson, Texas, product was also named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The weekly accolade is given out by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler. The accolade recognized the top offensive player, who was either born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.

Coleman's joins quarterback Bryce Petty (Oct. 14) as the only two BU players to be recognized with the award this season.

The sixth-ranked Bears enjoy their third and final off-week of 2014, before hosting Oklahoma State on Nov. 22 at McLane Stadium.
