THE RUNDOWN
STILLWATER, Okla. - A tightly contested contest did not show that way on the scoreboard as Baylor soccer fell 2-0 to Oklahoma State on Sunday at Cowgirl Soccer Complex. The Bears (7-5-2, 1-2-1 Big 12) gave up a goal in each period to the Cowgirls (8-7-1, 3-1-1 Big 12) but matched them in nearly every stat category.
In the first half, both teams only got off two shots and each had one on goal. Unfortunately, OSU's shot by Delaney Kiely found the back of the net in the 36th minute off a deflection from a corner kick. However, BU led 3-2 in corner kicks.
After the break, the teams each posted eight shots in the second half and no corner kicks. But the Cowgirls held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal and Anna Beffer's strike from 23 yards out in the 70th minute provided too large a deficit for the Bears to recover from.
Overall, the teams tied in shots (10-10), while Baylor led in corner kicks (3-2) and OSU led in shots on goal (6-4).
