STORYLINES

  • Baylor will have a total of 30 entries in the field at the NCAA €ˆWest Preliminary Rounds. The women will have 17 entries while men have 13 with each vying for a top-12 spot that earns berth to the NCAA €ˆFinals site in Eugene, Ore. June 5-8.
  • Baylor is currently ranked No. 22 in the NCAA €ˆon the women's side and No. 31 on the men's side. The BU €ˆwomen are one of six Big 12 teams in the top 25, while the BU €ˆmen are one of the league's eight in the top 32.

  • In its last meet, Baylor's women placed third and the men were seventh at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Waco. Christina Holland tallied BU's lone title in the 400 hurdles with a school-record time of 56.81.
  • Baylor totaled 41 All-Big 12 honors at the league championship, coming from a total of 26 competitors who placed in their respective event's top eight. Baylor's women garnered 23, while the men posted 18.

  • As a team, Baylor has combined to win a total of 49 individual events during the outdoor season. The BU €ˆwomen have claimed 27 with 11 coming from Erin Atkinson and Skylar White in the throws, while the men have won 22.

  • Atkinson has broken her own school record in the hammer throw four times this season. She has five wins in the event with the current school record coming at the Texas Invitational on April 13.

  • This week Baylor has 12 marks that are in the top 12 of the West Preliminary standings. The men's 4x400-meter relay team leads that group with a third-place time in the event at 3:03.90.

  • Baylor will again be without the services of four-time Big 12 indoor and outdoor hurdle champion Tiffani McReynolds, who has not competed this outdoor season due to injury. All-American Everett Walker will also be sidelined due to a leg injury he suffered earlier this season at the Florida Relays.
  • In the classroom, Baylor has had a record year with a total of 41 on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, including 27 on the women's side and 14 more on the men's side. Of those 41, 18 earned the honor for at least the second time.
