AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor track and field team closed out the 86th-annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays with three relay teams and two individuals competing on Saturday in front of 16,549 fans at Mike Myers Stadium.

"We had a lot of personal bests and two school records over our three days here, which is really great," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We were also injury-free. I thought we ended on a nice note with both relays making big drops in performance times."

The men's 4x400-meter relay team produced its best time of the season, 3:03.9, to finish third in a nine-squad field. For the first time in 2013, the lineup included Blake Heriot, Joe Barb, Drew Seale and Richard Gary. The Bears were the first team to the first handoff running out of lane three, but dropped to third coming out of the second leg's opening turn. That is where the group stayed for the remainder of the race. Last season, BU's men's quartet did not break 3:04 until the Big 12 Championships in May.

On the women's side in the 4x400, the quartet of Idia Omogiate, Ashley Fields, Brittany OgunMokun and Raena Rhone, bettered any time Baylor had last season with a 3:32.12 to finish seventh. It is BU's best time since the 2011 Drake Relays (3:31.58).

Mariah Kelly was Baylor's lone individual running event participant. She set a personal best of 4:22.20 to finish six in the 1500-meters. The junior was over nine seconds faster than her previous best time in the event (4:31.59), which she set last week at the Baylor Quad Invitational.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Justin Allen, Heriot, Everett Walker and Alex Reece bettered its time from preliminary action on Friday to turn in a 39.84. However after qualifying third with a 40.00, the Bears finished sixth in the finals.

In the discus, Desmine Hilliard was 14th with a throw of 167-7.

Baylor will next compete at the Florida Relays. The two-day meet starts Friday, before concluding on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.

Past and Future Bears Shine
Recent Baylor signee Annie Rhodes of Waco Midway won the high school pole vault competition at the Texas Relays with a jump of 13-8.5. That mark was a meet record in the high school division.

Baylor football signee, Kyle Fulks of Katy, who is also slated to run at BU was second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.21. The sprinter got out to a slow start, but closed strong to nearly take first.

In the mile invitational event, former Bear Chris Gowell was first in 4:07.10

Former Baylor athletes took part on several relays, but the quartet of Woodrow Randall, Marcus Boyd, Jeremy Wariner & Zwede Hewitt were third in the 4x100-meter relay in 39.95.

In the 4x400-meter relay, Boyd, Hewitt and Wariner teamed with former Aggie Tabarie Henry to place second in 3:02.21. Wariner ran a 44.72 on the anchor leg, but was able to beat out another former Bear Quentin Iglehart-Summers.

Summers, running on a team along with former BU athlete LeJerald Betters and Calvin Smith and Michael Courtney, held a slight lead over Wariner at the handoff. Wariner then passed him with about 250-meters to go, before Iglehart-Summers reclaimed the lead with 45-meters remaining.
