WACO, Texas - Following a successful indoor season, the Baylor track and field team will begin a nine-meet outdoor season with athletes competing at the TCU Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

The two-day meet also features North Texas, SMU, Texas State and UT Arlington, along with host institution TCU.

The invitational meet will open on Thursday afternoon with the women's discus competition starting at 1 p.m. That event is followed by the hammer throw and javelin events. On Friday, the field events will begin at 10:30 a.m., while running events start up at 12:30 p.m. at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.

The switch to outdoor competition will include a variety of different events from the indoor season. The field events will include the discus, javelin and hammer throw, while on the track the 4x100-meter dash, 100/110-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles will all be contested for the first time.

The Bears are coming off having six athletes garner All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships last week. Baylor's Tiffani McReynolds was second in the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Felix Obi was sixth in the triple jump and the men's 4x400 squad of Blake Heriot, Justin Allen, Drew Seale and Richard Gary finished sixth as well.

In 2012, Baylor completed the outdoor season with five All-Americans. From that group, three will return in 2013. Sprinters Everett Walker and Heriot will look to lead the BU 4x100-relay crew back into the NCAA top eight, while Skylar White will try to repeat as an All-American in the discus. At the 2012 Big 12 meet, the women finished fourth and the men were sixth as 24 competitors tallied 39 All-Big 12 honors.

After competing at TCU, Baylor will return home to host the first of three outdoor meets in 2013. The Bears will welcome North Texas, Stephen F. Austin and TCU for the Baylor Quad Invitational on Friday, March 22 at the Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex.
