IRVING, Texas - Sophomore Tiffani McReynolds was recognized for her outstanding weekend on the track, as she was named the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Week, league officials announced on Wednesday.
McReynolds made the most of her full slate at the UCF Invitational, turning in a national-best in the 100 hurdles and top-six NCAA marks in both the 100 meters and 200 meters.
In her first 100-hurdle race of the season, McReynolds blazed past a talented field to win the UCF Invite crown in the event and claim the top spot in the NCAA with a time of 13.04. Shortly after, she got in the blocks for the 100 meters and placed second behind only an unattached runner, leaving her time of 11.42 as the fastest time of the weekend in the NCAA and No. 2 overall on the season.
In the 200 meters, McReynolds had enough speed left to record the fastest time of her two-year career of 23.40, placing fourth at the meet and ranking sixth nationally.
The honor is the second of McReynolds career, adding to her Big 12 weekly recognition on April 12, 2010, after she won the 100 hurdles at the Texas Relays.
McReynolds will look to defend her Texas Relays title this weekend, as the Baylor track and field team heads to Austin, Texas, from March 29-31 for the annual event.
