WACO, Texas - Fans looking for an escape from the hottest summer on record in Central Texas may wish to take advantage of a special Baylor men's and women's basketball season ticket promotion to be offered by the University from Oct. 3-9.

Waco's low temperature on Saturday, Oct. 1, as recorded by weather.com, will establish the price point for fans who wish to purchase season tickets for either the 2011-12 Baylor men's or women's basketball season. The expected Oct. 1 Waco low is between 55 and 60 degrees, which would afford fans a significant price break of at least 50 percent off the cost of Baylor's Super Fan price of $140 for men's basketball and $125 for women's basketball season tickets.

"We were able to sell more than 2,000 football season tickets for our 4th of July promotion, and while we won't have that many seats available for the basketball season, we believe that this promotion will be well received by the community," said Baylor's Executive Associate A.D./External Affairs Nick Joos. "With the preseason national recognition our men's and women's teams have received, there will be no better place for Central Texans to spend their winter nights than the Ferrell Center."

More information will be available once the low temperature is known. Fans will be able to purchase season tickets at the discounted price online, in person at the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office or via phone by calling 254.710.1000 starting Oct. 3 at 8:30 a.m. There is a limit of four tickets per order and the $20 service charge will also be assessed.

Coach Kim Mulkey's Lady Bears, fresh off a sweep of the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles and the program's third-ever Elite Eight trip, return four starters for a team ranked No. 1 in the preseason after last year's school-record 34 wins. The Baylor men's team, meanwhile, also returns four starters from a year ago while welcoming one of the nation's top recruiting classes and has been recognized as consensus 2011-12 preseason top 25 team by several publications.
