WACO, Texas - Baylor soccer's first annual Meet the Team Scrimmage was a rousing success, as fans flocked to Betty Lou Mays Field for food, drinks and a chance to see the 2011 squad in action.
Following dinner, fans were treated to a preview of the 2011 season from head coach Marci Jobson and two, 30-minute halves of soccer.
Scoreless at the end of the first half, freshman Susan Summerville scored on a cross from Dana Larsen for the game's lone goal, as the green defeated white, 1-0.
"I thought it was a hard fought battle," Jobson said. "After four tough days of practice, I was proud of how we came out here and battled. I was also really impressed with the fan turnout, and we are very appreciative of that."
The scrimmage was also a chance for fans to join Oso United, the booster club for Baylor soccer. Fans can join for as little as $50, while Baylor Soccer alumni may enjoy a $25 membership. For more information on levels and benefits, contact Brittany Turner at Brittany_Turner@baylor.edu.
