WT's Nakic Wins Two at ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- Baylor senior Diana Nakic flew through her first two qualifying-round matches on Tuesday at the ITA/Riviera All-American in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Nakic, one of three returning seniors for Baylor, kicked her season off on the right foot with two victories. She began the All-American in the qualifying rounds, earning her way to the third round of qualifying and will have a chance at a berth into the Main Draw.

Nakic, ranked 28th in the nation, defeated No. 58 Brittney Wowchuk of Northwestern in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, in the qualifying first round. In the second round, Nakic was able to put together another victory over 55th-ranked Stephanie Hoffpauir of San Diego.

Also competing for Baylor, freshman Nicole Kosakowski and sophomore Jordaan Sanford teamed up in the qualifying rounds of doubles, but fell to UCLA's Robin Anderson and McCall Jones. The UCLA pair held on late in the match to take a 9-7 win.

Nakic will continue action in the qualifying singles on Wednesday, while fellow seniors Nina Secerbegovic and Sona Novakova will also participate in the tournament's singles and doubles Main Draw, beginning on Thursday at the ITA/Riviera All-American.
