WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team will take part in its second Intercollegiate Tennis Association event of the fall season when six members of the team travel to the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas, to participate in the USTA/ITA Texas Regional, Oct. 21-24.

The event is one of 12 regionals held around the country in the month of October with the singles and doubles champion from each site qualifying for the 2011 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. The national tournament is slated for Nov. 3-6, at the indoor facilities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, New York.

Competing in singles for the Bears will be freshmen Lars Behlen, Marko Krickovic and Mate Zsiga, sophomore Robert Verzaal, junior Roberto Maytin and senior Kike Grangeiro. Grangeiro will be making his 2011-12 collegiate debut after suffering an eye injury last summer.

The Bears will have three doubles tandems competing in the event with Maytin and Zsiga pairing together, Behlen and Grangeiro teaming up and Verzaal and Krickovic taking the court. This will be the first time any of the doubles teams have played together.

Zsiga enters the tournament with the best record of all the Bears at 7-1. Zsiga's lone loss came at the hands of Auburn's 70th-ranked Andreas Miles in the second round of the ITA All-American Tournament in early October. Behlen is sporting a 6-2 mark while the 43rd-ranked Maytin is 5-2.
