2011 HEB Baylor Invite Draws
WACO, Texas - Baylor women's tennis team will host the annual HEB Baylor Invitational on Friday-Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The Lady Bears will enter four singles players and two doubles combinations into the talented field. Baylor senior Diana Nakic will be joined by three newcomers in sophomore transfer Jordaan Sanford and freshmen Nicole Kosakowski and Megan Horter.
Nakic, ranked 28th in nation, earned the tournament's No. 2 overall seed, while the 97th-ranked Sanford earned the No. 4 overall seed. Both players earned a first-round bye in the 46-player field. In doubles, Sanford and Kosakowski will team up as the No. 3 overall seed. 21-team field.
Nakic, Kosakowski and Sanford will each play in their second tournament of the season, after competing in the prestigious ITA/Riviera All-American last weekend. Nakic registered a 4-2 record, advancing through the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. All four wins were over ranked opponents. Sanford had a 1-1 record in two pre-qualifying matches, while Kosakowski entered the opening tournament in only the doubles portion.
Sanford and Kosakowski, who teamed up at the ITA All-American, fell in their only match with a 9-7 loss to UCLA's duo of McCall Jones and Robin Anderson. Nakic and Horter will also pair together for the HEB Invite, marking the first doubles matches of the season for each player.
