IRVING, Texas - Baylor men's basketball freshman Perry Jones III was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week for Jan. 10-16 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. Jones III is the third Big 12 rookie this season to earn multiple weekly honors, joining Iowa State's Melvin Ejim and Missouri's Ricardo Ratliffe.

It is the second weekly award for Jones III and he is the third Baylor player in the last four seasons to earn multiple Big 12 Rookie of the Week awards. Last season, future NBA lottery pick Ekpe Udoh was a three-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week honoree, while senior LaceDarius Dunn was a two-time honoree as a freshman in 2008.

PJ3 averaged 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds as Baylor defeated Oklahoma, 74-61, before dropping a 72-57 decision at Iowa State. The freshman forward started the week with a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds against the Sooners, converting 10-of-13 field goals. He later added 10 points and five boards in the loss at Iowa State. He shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) for the week and made 5-of-8 (.625) from the free throw line.

Jones III ranks second on the team in rebounding (7.3) and ranks third in scoring (13.1). His 13.1 points-per-game are tops among all Big 12 freshmen.
