Baylor Athletics Experie

NORMAN, Okla. - Down 3-0 with 36 minutes to play, Baylor (7-3-1, 0-2 Big 12) staged a furious comeback, but fell one goal short, falling to Oklahoma (5-4-1, 1-1 Big 12), 3-2 Sunday evening at the OU Soccer Complex.

The loss marked the second, one-goal loss in as many games for the Bears.

"We came out extremely flat and it hurt us," head coach Marci Jobson said. "By the time we truly responded, it was too late."

Oklahoma's Kelsey Kraft scored a pair of first-half goals to give OU the lead at the break, but Bethany Johnston and Lisa Sliwinski led the charge with goals for BU.

Kraft's first goal came in the 38th minute on a header off the pass from Emily Reid for the 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, Kraft followed her own shot that struck the crossbar and banged in her second of the evening.

Down 2-0 at half, Baylor's Lisa Sliwinski took the first shot of the second half, but missed high.

The Sooners added a third in the 54th minute when Katherine Nutman scored on a header off a corner from Dria Hampton for the 3-0 advantage.

Johnston got the Bears on the board in the 68th minute, as Bethany Johnston scored her second goal of the season, cutting the deficit to two.

Sliwinski cut the Sooners' lead to just one in the 90th minute, notching her first goal of the season. But with just 52 seconds remaining, the clock ran out on the Bears.

Oklahoma became just the second team to outshoot Baylor this season, winning the battle, 17-8 on the night.

Baylor will return home for a pair of games beginning with Nebraska on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field.
