WACO, Texas - The Baylor Lady Bears were ranked No. 4 nationally in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top 25 Poll released Wednesday. The No. 4 listing is the program's highest final ranking since the Lady Bears finished at No. 1 after claiming the 2005 NCAA championship and marked their third top 10 finish in the poll. The Lady Bears moved up 14 spots since the previous Coaches Poll ranking of No. 18 on March 15.
Baylor (27-10) posted its seventh consecutive 25-win season, and eighth overall under head coach Kim Mulkey, and advanced to its second Women's Final Four in five seasons. The Lady?Bears lost in the national semifinals at San Antonio to eventual national champion Connecticut.
Baylor began the season ranked No. 4 in the Coaches Poll and was ranked every week in both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches and The Associated Press' polls. Baylor was ranked No. 14 in the final AP Poll on March 15 and enters 2010-11 having been rated a school-record 130 straight weeks by AP.
