The No. 7 Baylor Equestrian team (6-8) fell to Oklahoma State 11-8 Friday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco.
The Bears started out even with the Cowgirls, tying Equitation on the Flat 2-2. Margaret Beaudoin's score of 79 was good enough to earn her MVP honors, while Melanie Appel and Heather Healy each scored points for the Bears.
Baylor took control of the lead, winning Equitation over Fences 3-2. Lisa Goldman, Kara Fergusson and Taylor Brown all scored for the Bears. Brown's 80-75 victory earned her MVP honors and resulted in Baylor having a 5-4 advantage through half of the events.
The Cowgirls made a comeback winning Horsemanship 4-1. Lindsey Tomko scored the lone point for the Bears.
Oklahoma State continued to control the lead, winning Reining 3-2. Lindsey Tomko and Ellie Powell scored for Baylor. This resulted in an 11-8 loss for the Bears.
This afternoon's match was the last home event of the season. Honored were seniors Kelly Albury, Courtney Brown, Lindsay Douglas, Kelsey Ehlers, Heather Healy, Casey Hill, Madelyn Mooney, Allison Orosz, Melissa Painter, Brittani Purnell, Valtie Riddle, Mary Smitson and Lindsey Tomko.
The Bears will next be in action Friday, March 26 when they compete in the Big 12 Championship at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco.
