WACO, Texas - After having their first scheduled outdoor meet cancelled, the Baylor track and field team will be in action at the Victor Lopez Classic in Houston, as well as the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on Friday and Saturday, March 26-27.

Cold and temperatures and wet conditions throughout the Waco area last Saturday forced the Bears to postpone their outdoor season one week, giving them an extra break after the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Baylor enters the outdoor season on the momentum of nine broken school records during indoor, along with a fourth-place finish in the Big 12 on the men's side and a ninth-place conference finish on the women's side.

Freshman Skylar White recorded four of those record-breaking performances in the women's shot put. The DeSoto, Texas, native kicked off the season with a record toss of 46-1, then added five more feet during the year with a season-best and new school record of 51-6.25.

On the men's side, the middle-distance duo of Chris Gowell and James Gilreath had a hand in each of the remaining five record performances. Gowell shattered the 1,000-meter record with a time of 2:22.38, then broke his own 800-meter record with a time of 1:48.26 before Gilreath came along with a time of 1:48.00 to claim the mark. The pair also ran on both distance medley relay record performances, teaming with Michael Liggins and Gavyn Nero to set the top BU mark at 9:34.90.

At the Big 12 Championships, Gilreath had a hand in both of the individual event championships, winning the 800-meter crown, then teaming with Nero, Gowell, and Drew Seale to win the conference title in the distance medley relay.

At the NCAA Championships, Baylor's three-time defending national champion 4x400-meter relay team ran their fastest time since their title run in 2007, but came up just short finishing in second-place. Earning All-America honors on the team were Trey Harts, Marcus Boyd, Zwede Hewitt, and Michael Liggins. The honors was the eighth for Harts, sixth for Body, second for Hewitt, and first for Liggins.

The Victor Lopez Classic is scheduled to begin with distance races on Friday night at 7:25 p.m. The 1,500 meters, 3,000-meter Steeplechase, and 5,000 meters will all take place on Friday evening. On Saturday, throwing events will start at 8 a.m., while events on the track kick off at noon. Heat sheets, events schedule and live results can be found at www.cfpitiming.com or www.BaylorBears.com.

At Stanford, the action kicks off on Friday morning with the field events beginning with the men's collegiate javelin at 9:00 am. The running events begin at 11:00 am with the fourth section of the men's 5,000 meters.
