Men's Hoops Earns Season's Highest AP Rank

WACO, Texas - Baylor (25-7) moved up two spots to No. 19 in the latest AP Top 25, while the Bears dropped to No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 polls, which were released Monday. Baylor's latest AP ranking is its highest this season and the highest since being ranked No. 19 during the week of Dec. 29, 2008.
The Bears have now been ranked a school-record 10 consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25. In the last three seasons under head coach Scott Drew, Baylor has appeared in the AP Top 25 for 19 weeks. Prior to Drew's arrival, the Bears were ranked for only week in 1948-49 and two weeks in 1968-69.
Baylor is ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll for the third straight week and the fifth week overall this season. The Bears have been ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll for 11 weeks over the last two seasons.
After securing its highest NCAA Tournament seed in program history, No. 3 seed Baylor will travel to New Orleans to face No. 14 Sam Houston State in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament Thursday at 1:45 p.m. CDT on CBS.
