STORY LINES
No. 17 Baylor, 20-7 on the season and 7-6 in league play, will make its fourth ESPN2 appearance of the season as it hosts Kansas on Sun., Feb. 28, at 4:05 p.m. Baylor enters the game as winners of three straight and five of seven after home victories over Texas Tech and No. 17 Oklahoma State and a road win at No. 15 Texas A&M.
With its 20 wins this season, Baylor has now posted its 10th-straight 20-win season and 16th overall. Head coach Kim Mulkey has had 10, 20-win seasons as a head coach and 28 in 29 years as a player, assistant and head coach in the college game.
The Jayhawks are 15-11 overall and 5-8 in Big 12 action. Kansas, which recently lost its top player, senior Danielle McCray, to a season-ending ACL tear, enters the contest losers of five of its last six games.
As a team, Baylor ranks No. 1 nationally in blocks per game (7.4); No. 2 in field goal percentage defense (32.8); No. 6 in field goal percentage (.474); No. 8 in rebound margin (9.6) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.4); No. 10 in scoring margin (17.4) ; No. 25 in scoring offense (73.60) and No. 28 in scoring defense (56.2).
Brittney Griner, with 161 blocks, moved into No. 2 on Baylor's all-time shot block list. She passed former standout Steffanie Blackmon's 159, BU's all-time leading shot blocker, Danielle Wilson, accumulated 249 in three seasons. In addition, Griner ranks No. 12 on the Big 12's career blocks chart.
BU freshmen are gaining valuable minutes this season and producing points. On the season, BU's rookies account for 43.3 percent (2347-5425) of the minutes played and 51.7 percent (1027-1923) of the team's points. In BU's 80-69 victory over No. 17 Oklahoma State on Feb. 20, rookies accounted for 55 of Baylor's 80 points (68.8%). When BU defeated No. 12 Texas A&M on the road on Feb. 22, 65-63, the rookies scored 39 of the team's 65 points (60%).
The Lady Bears remain the Big 12 leader in field goal percentage (.474), field goal percentage defense (.328), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.274), rebounding offense (44.0) and blocked shots (7.4). In conference games only, BU remains No. 1 in blocked shots (6.5) and rebounding offense (41.1), No. 2 in field goal percentage defense (.353) and scoring defense (59.5).
Junior point guard Kelli Griffin ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference in assist/turnover ratio at 1.9 and No. 4 in assists (4.9). She has doled out 132 assists and turned the ball over only 68 times this season.
Griffin now ranks No. 10 on Baylor's career assist chart with 307.
For the fifth straight season Baylor has surpassed the 100,000 fan mark in home attendance. With 8,282 in attendance against Oklahoma State on Feb. 20, Baylor's home attendance now stands at 104,217 which averages out to 6,948 per contest. BU currently ranks No. 9 in NCAA Division I attendance. €ˆ
20-20 Griner's 22-point, 21-rebound performance at No. 12 Texas A&M on Feb. 22 was Baylor's first 20-20 game since Sophia Young's 20-point, 25-rebound performance against Auburn on April 4, 2003. All told, it was Baylor's seventh 20-20 performance and only the second recorded in Big 12 Conference play by a Lady Bear. Danielle Crockrom tallied 41 points and 22 rebounds against Texas A&M on Jan. 20, 2001.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Kansas Jayhawks are 15-11 overall and 5-8 in Big 12 action. Kansas, which recently lost its top player, senior Danielle McCray, to a season-ending left knee ACL tear, enters the contest losers of five of its last six games.
Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson is in her sixth season in Lawrence with a record of 94-90. Henrickson's 13-year career record is 252-152.
Since the Feb. 4 season-ending injury to the team's top scorer (19.8) and rebounder (7.2), senior guard/forward Danielle McCray, the Jayhawks have two players scoring in double digits. Sophomore forward Aishah Sutherland now leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 10.4 points and 7.3 rebounds a game. Senior guard Sade Morris ranks second in scoring with 10.1 an outing.

Baylor leads the series 12-7 while BU head coach Kim Mulkey is 10-1 versus the Jayhawks, 4-0 in Waco.
Prior to last season's 69-45 KU victory in Lawrence, Baylor had won 10 straight against the Jayhawks. The loss at Lawrence was Mulkey's first to Kansas.

Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey kept her 20-win streak intact, securing her 10th straight 20-win season and the program's 16th overall.

HOME, SWEET HOME
In Kim Mulkey's 10 seasons along the Ferrell Center sideline, her teams have posted some impressive numbers in the venue. The Lady Bears have maintained a 144-18 (.889) Ferrell Center record during that time span. Mulkey's first three seasons produced a 45-8 (.849) Ferrell Center mark while over the past seven years the Lady Bears are 99-10 (.908).
The Lady Bears have won 86 of their last 94 home games, including 44 of their last 48. § Last season, Baylor finished with a 14-2 home record and it is 14-1 this season.
