ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Baylor's fifth-ranked women's tennis took No. 8 Michigan down to the wire, but weren't able to pull it out, losing 4-3 on Friday evening in Ann Arbor, Mich.

"Michigan played a great match and outplayed us today," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "It's extremely disappointing to see us not execute what we work on every day in practice. We have to change certain things right now and put some more serious work in if we're going to have a good season."

The Lady Bears started the match out down a point, losing two out of the three doubles matches. BU fought back, winning two of the first three singles matches to tie the score at two. The teams then traded the next two matches to tie the score at 3-3, but the Wolverines closed out a three-set win in the last finishing singles match of the day.

The No. 12 duo of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi were the lone doubles winner for the Lady Bears with an 8-4 win over Rika Tatsuno and Whitney Taney at the No. 1 position.

In singles, No. 9 Broosova moved her season record to 6-0 with a win over No. 16 Denise Muresan in a second-set tiebreak 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). No. 25 Nina Secerbegovic dropped just two games, 6-2, 6-0, to Tatsuno on her way to her eighth consecutive win to open the season 8-0.

No. 123 Csilla Borsanyi snapped a five-match losing streak with a three-set win over Tania Mahtani, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. The Lady Bears dropped the final three positions at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6. No. 105 Jelena Stanivuk saw her first action of the dual-match season, but fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to Mimi Nguyen. No. 91 Taylor Ormond fought back from down a set, then tied the match at 4-4 in the third set, but couldn't finish off the comeback, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.

The Lady Bears will be back on the court in their Big 12 opener at Texas Tech University on March 3 in Lubbock, Texas. That match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
