WACO, Texas - Baylor received a signed National Letter of Intent from Josh Wilson of Kilgore College, head coach Art Briles announced Thursday.
Wilson is Baylor's third mid-year signee, joining a pair of junior college transfers who signed Wednesday, Nick Johnson an offensive lineman from Navarro and David Whitmore a defensive back from Iowa Western. All three student-athletes are expected to join the Bears in January and participate in 2011 spring drills.
"We're excited that Josh is a Baylor Bear," Briles said. "All three of these guys fit needs for this program and are good additions to this team."
The six-foot, 195-pound defensive back was named a 2010 honorable mention All-SWJCFC after totaling 68 tackles, three interceptions and eight pass breakups as a sophomore this fall. Wilson made 43 tackles as a freshman in 2009 under head coach J.J. Eckert at Kilgore.
Wilson prepped at Humble High School in Humble, Texas, where he played receiver under head coach Walt Beasley.
Baylor (7-5, 4-4 Big 12) returns to action Dec. 29 against Illinois (6-6, 4-4 Big Ten) in the 2010 Texas Bowl, the Bears' first bowl game since 1994. The game, which is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. CST, will be televised live nationally on ESPN. For tickets, call the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office at 254-710-1000 or visit BaylorBears.com.
