XC Split Between Pre-Nat's, Chile Pepper

- Baylor cross country's top seven men and women will each travel to the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., , while other members of the squad will compete in the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. Both meets will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16, one of the busiest days of the year for BU's cross country team.

After a three-week break, BU's top men's and women's runners will have the opportunity to compete at the site of this year's NCAA Championships. The elite field features 18 of the top 30 men's teams in the nation, as well as 18 of the top 30 women's teams. The race takes place at the the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center with the women's 6,000-meter Blue race opening up the action at 11:00 a.m. (ET). That race will be followed by the women's 6,000-meter White race at 11:35 a.m. (ET). The men's 8,000-meter Blue race will run at 12:10 p.m. (ET), followed by the men's 8,000 meter White race at 12:50 p.m. (ET).

The last time out, Baylor competed at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota. Senior Robbie Knorr led the men to a 13th-place team finish, placing 53rd overall, while junior Cate Westenhover was the top female for Baylor's 14th-place team as she crossed the line 20th overall.

Meanwhile, the 22nd Annual Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas, will feature more than 80 college teams, including Baylor. The men's collegiate 10-kilometer race is slated for 9:45 a.m., followed by the women's collegiate five-kilometer race at 10:30 a.m.
