FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Baylor's track and field team finished competition at the two-day Razorback Invitational on Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

"Overall it was a good weekend at Arkansas," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We had some good performances and a couple more provisional qualifiers. But, we aren't where are going to be four or five weeks from now."

Baylor's men's 4x400-meter relay team ran its fastest time of the season, and the third fastest time in the NCAA this season, but were edged out at the finish with a time of 3:07.78. Michael Liggins, Marcus Boyd, J.T. Scheuerman, and Zwede Hewitt combined to pass the baton around the track. TCU took the men's 4x400 with a time of 3:07.59.

On the track for the men, Whitney Prevost ripped off a 6.79 in the men's 60-meter final to place fourth overall. Teammate Courtney Thomas earned a spot in the consolation final, finishing fourth in that race with a time of 6.92.

In the men's 400 meters, Marcus Boyd led the way with a fifth-place finish, just missing NCAA provisional standards with a time of 47.56, while James Gilreath also finished in the top 10 in the race with a time of 48.09. Logan Roberts, running in the unseeded section of the men's 800 meters, placed fifth with a time of 1:57.38.

On the track for the women, senior Erin Bedell got back on the track for the first time in 2010, placing fifth in the mile with a time of 4:57.71. Three Lady Bears placed in the top eight in the championship section of the 800 meters. Freshman Stephanie Morgan placed fifth with a time of 2:10.95, while Kathryn Benvegnu was seventh at 2:14.22 and Nichole Jones was eighth at 2:15.85.

Sophomore Diamond Richardson narrowly missed the provisional mark in the women's 400 meters with a time of 54.48 to place ninth. The women's 4x400-meter relay finished 7th with a time of 3:46.96.

In the only women's field event of the day for Baylor, sophomore Jessica Ubanyionwu came within two inches of meeting provisional standards, falling just short of the 12.65-meter mark with a leap of 12.62 meters (41-5) to place third.

Baylor will be back on the track next weekend at the Big 12/Pac-10/SEC Challenge in College Station, Texas, at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on Jan. 29-30.
