WACO, Texas (AP)--Brittney Griner had 12 points, 11 blocked shots, and nine rebounds to lead No. 9 Baylor to a 57-47 victory over No. 13 Oklahoma on Wednesday night.
Even while drawing at three defenders--and sometimes four--just about every time Baylor had the ball, the 6-foot-8 Griner still had a big impact. She now has 99 blocks this season, only 20 shy of the single-season Big 12 record set by Courtney Paris for Oklahoma in 2006.
Fellow freshman Shanay Washington added 12 points with the go-ahead driving basket after a steal for Baylor (14-2, 1-1 Big 12). Washington had a steal and a driving layup, then hit the free throw after being fouled to put the Lady Bears up 31-29 with 16 minutes left, and they never trailed again.
Danielle Robinson had 15 points to lead Oklahoma (11-4, 1-1).
