The Baylor soccer team (1-0-2) will look to continue its undefeated ways as it plays its first game in seven days, traveling to McNeese State (0-2-1), Friday for a 7:00 p.m. match. The Bears will then take on Louisiana-Lafayette (0-3-1) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Lafayette, La.
"This is an important weekend for us," head coach Marci Jobson said. "It's always tough to play on the road, but we have had a good week of practice and it needs to translate to the field."
The Bears are coming off a 0-0 tie of North Dakota State on Aug. 28. Baylor outshot the Bison, 15-4 in the contest. Freshman Hanna Gilmore leads the Baylor attack with six points, while junior Lotto Smith has three after recording one goal and one assist thus far.
McNeese is coming off road losses at Gonzaga (3-1) and Eastern Washington (4-1) last weekend. Freshman Jana Barrow leads the Cowgirls with two goals and four points. The Bears lead the all-time series against McNeese State, 2-0, after defeating the Cowgirls 6-0 on Sept. 11, 2002.
UL recently went 0-2 on a road trip that included a 2-1 loss to Tulsa and a 7-0 loss to Oklahoma State. The Cajuns' Kelli Jestes scored the only goal on the road trip. Baylor leads the series, 2-0, as the two teams last met on Aug. 31, 2007 with BU winning 2-0.
