DALLAS - Freshman Hanna Gilmore was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week following a two-goal, two-assist effort over the weekend that led the Bears past to a 1-0-1, league officials announced Tuesday.
In her first two collegiate games, Gilmore combined to register two goals, two assists and contributed on each of the Bears' four goals. She assisted Baylor's goal in a 1-1 tie at Rice, and in Sunday's 3-0 win over Lamar, Gilmore scored a pair of goals and added an assist. She had a .333 shooting percentage and a .833 shots-on-goal percentage during the Bears' opening weekend of play.
Gilmore is the first BU player to win a conference weekly honor since Gianna Quintana was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3, 2008, and is the first Baylor freshman to do so since Ashley Noah won Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20, 2004. With Gilmore's award, Baylor has won two-straight conference awards dating back to Quintana's honor in the final week of last season.
The Bears will be back in action on Friday, Aug. 28 as they host North Dakota State at 7:00 p.m.
