Track & Field Completes Day One

EUGENE, Ore. - Two former Baylor standouts, Reggie Witherspoon and Darold Williamson, qualified for the finals of the 400, while Tiffany Townsend advanced in the 100 on the first day of the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

Williamson qualified with the fifth-best time, running a 46.61, while Witherspoon qualified 13th with a 46.50. Townsend took 12th in the preliminaries of the 100 meters with a time of 11.32 and advanced to the finals.

LeJerald Betters just missed out on qualifying by one spot in the 100 after running a 46.67 to finish 17th. Quentin Iglehart-Summers totaled a 47.10 to place 25th in the prelims and Marcus Boyd finished 32nd with a 48.10.

Trey Harts finished 37th with a time of 10.70 in the first round of the 100-meter dash, while former Baylor standout Angel Perkins ran a preliminary time of 59.01 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Day two of the four-day event will begin tomorrow with events beginning at 11:00 a.m. CDT.
