COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 13th-ranked doubles team of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi cruised through their quarterfinal match, defeating No. 21 Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna of Arizona State, 6-3, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at the 2009 NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championships at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

Just moments after the Lady Bears clinched the match, lightning and rain in the Bryan-College Station area suspended play on all courts.

With the win, Baylor advances to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship. The semifinal appearance is the first for a Baylor doubles team since the 2001 season when Katja Kovac and Jahnavi Parekh lost, 6-1, 6-1, in their semifinal match.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair, with each team holding serve through the first seven games. With Baylor holding a 4-3 lead, the Lady Bears broke Arizona State's serve and held serve to take the first set 6-3. Baylor dominated the second set, blanking the Sun Devils, 6-0, to clinch the match.

"We played them before in Las Vegas in the beginning of the season," said Broosova. "We lost, so we knew what we needed to improve on to beat this team. Obviously they are a great team. To be in the quarterfinals, you have to be good. We knew what to do, and we followed the game plan. We executed really well. We served really well today. We didn't get broken once, so I think that was a huge factor."

The Lady Bears avenged an 8-3 loss to the Sun Devil duo in the Round of 16 at the Freeman Memorial in Las Vegas, Nev. in early January.

Baylor returns to action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. to face California's Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova, seeded in the 5-8 range.
