COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 13-ranked doubles pair of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi won their first-round matchup and advance to the Round of 16 in the 2009 Women's Tennis Doubles Championships at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
A day after three Baylor women's tennis players were eliminated in the NCAA Singles Championship, Broosova and Borsanyi defeated Clemson's Ani Mijacika and Keri Wong, seeded in the 5-8 range, by a score of 6-1, 7-6.
"I'm very proud of the way the ladies bounced back from a tough first day," said head coach Joey Scrivano. "Lenks and Csil played with a lot of energy and competed hard to beat a very good Clemson doubles team. We are excited for the next round to start."
The Baylor pair advances to the Round of 16 to face Mississippi's Kristi Boxx and Karen Njissen, a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 winner of Princeton's Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable. Boxx defeated Baylor's Jelena Stanivuk in first-round singles action.
