IRVING, Texas - Sophomore Whitney Zachariason has been named to the Academic All-Big 12 first-team it was recently announced by the league office.

Zachariason, a general studies major from Little Rock, Ark., maintains a 3.3 GPA. The 6-2 forward/post transferred to Baylor from Arkansas and played her first season as a Lady Bear this season beginning in mid-December. She joins teammate Rachel Allison on the first team.

League officials recently modified the rules to allow a mid-year transfer student-athlete that participates in a two-semester sport (e.g., basketball, wresting) be eligible for Academic All-Big 12 Team recognition based on participating in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests that occur after the student-athlete satisfies applicable transfer requirements.
