AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
On Thursday afternoon Thaddeus Gordon clocked 53.46 to finish 16th in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Philip Raaf finished 27th with a time of 54.72.
On Wednesday night, freshman Samantha Patty finished third overall in the women's 5,000 meters with a season-best time of 17:03.80. The time marks a 30-second personal best for Patty in the event and is just 10 seconds off an NCAA Regional qualifying time.
Also on Wednesday, Kathryn Benvegnu finished third in her heat and sixth overall in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:13.91. In the men's 5,000 meters, Jeff Sadler clocked 15:10.45 to finish 12th overall, while Brandon Reed finished 16th in 15:37.03.
Baylor returns to action tomorrow morning at the Texas Relays with preliminary heats of the 4x100-meter relay beginning at 9:30 a.m.
