WACO, Texas - Lenka Broosova was named the Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
On Friday, Broosova tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win over Texas Tech's Sam van der Drift in Baylor's conference opener at No. 1 singles. On Saturday she rallied from a 5-1 second-set deficit to defeat No. 27 Andrea Remynse of ninth-ranked UCLA, 6-3, 7-6 (5), clinching the match 4-3 for Baylor.
Broosova earned a pair of victories on the week for fifth-ranked Baylor, leading the Lady Bears to a 2-1 overall record. Her win against Remynse clinched the match for Baylor, giving the Lady Bears their third win over a Top 10 team this season.
Baylor returns to action on Wednesday as the Lady Bears play host to No. 13 Kentucky at 5 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center.
