NO. 7/6 BAYLOR (21-3, 9-2) 72, MISSOURI (11-12, 2-8) 43
FERRELL CENTER - WACO, TEXAS
FEB. 14, 2009 - ATTENDANCE: 6,334

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

On Baylor's free throw shooting:
"Free throws are going to win or lose a game for you sometime. We have won games at the foul line and we have probably lost a few at the foul line and it is not just at the end of the game. I believe that an athlete knows when they did good and when they do bad, so sometimes it is best to not say anything. Today it was time. I went in there and I talked to them about all the things that were said about the Memphis men last year when they were making their playoff run. Free throws are going to cost them at some point and I made sure that I brought it up now so they will remember and say `I have to get in the gym.' At some point, if you shoot like this in a close game, you are not going to win."

On the importance of the bench getting playing time:
"In this league you win in all kinds of ways because of different styles of play. The last couple of games we have had to adjust things defensively from our typical Baylor defense. We like getting in passing lanes, we like pressuring the ball, we like stealing the ball and we like running the floor. You can't do that against some teams in our league so today was an opportunity against Missouri where we could go back to doing those things defensively."

On the importance of `Pink Out' Breast Cancer:
"If you go back to Jim Valvano and what he did for cancer research, Kay Yow will have that same impact from the woman's side of the game and it is our job as basketball players and coaches to do our part. I thought there were lots of pink shirts in the stands and I was very proud that the fans responded to that. It was a great day."

Baylor Guard Jhasmin Player

On the second half outburst:
"We emphasize the first 5 minutes of the second half and we were finally able to get some defensive stops which were more important than offense because we had to get stops in order to get us more offensive possessions. We were able to do that today."

Baylor Post Danielle Wilson

On the week off:
"It is going to help a lot. I know that I am going to be in the gym working on free throws so even though it is a time of rest and a time to get our bodies' right but we also know that we have OU on Saturday."

Missouri Head Coach Cindy Stein

Opening Statement:
"Well I don't know how Kim (Mulkey) feels, but I think this could be the best team she has ever had. I know she has a national championship team, but she is pretty deep inside and I think you got to have that. She is deep at the point guard. She has got five kids on the floor that can score and those same five kids can play terrific defense. When you have that you have a lot of things going for you. I don't think you can really know just how good Baylor really is until you watch them warm-up. "

On Danielle Wilson:
"Wilson is a ton. We didn't do a good job on her. We wanted to keep her away from the basket. She is just so strong and she is pretty mobile. She is very tough, but you know we had freshmen on her too."

On Baylor's defense:
"Hats off to them, I think they are a terrific team. They are one of the best defensive teams in the country."
