Dec. 11, 2009
WACO, Texas - Baylor's track and field team will officially begin their 2010 slate with the Reveille Invitational, hosted by the Texas A&M on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. Head coach Todd Harbour will take a partial squad to the only December meet on the schedule.
"We are really excited to get the season going," Harbour said. "We are going to take only about 20 kids to the meet. Texas A&M is a great place to run."
The Bears return 14 All-Americans to the squad, including 2009 indoor 200-meter champ and six-time All-American Trey Harts. On the women's side, 10-time All-American sprinter Tiffany Townsend and four-time All-American distance runner Erin Bedell return after spectacular 2009 seasons.
Last season, Harts took the indoor 200-meter title, then joined Marcus Boyd, J.T. Scheuerman and then-senior Quentin Iglehart-Summers to win the Baylor men's fifth consecutive 4x400-meter national championship. The crew continued a streak of 4x400-meter victories that ended at 42 in a row with a third-place finish at the outdoor championships.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Gilliam Indoor Track and Field Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station.
