STORY LINES
• Baylor will put its seven-game win streak on the line when it takes on Boston College on Sunday, Dec. 13, in Madison Square Garden.
• The contest marks Baylor's fourth of 10 regular-season television appearances of the season.
• The Maggie Dixon Classic is held annually in memory of the former Army Black Knights women's basketball coach. Dixon died suddenly due to an arrhythmia caused by a previously undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 28. Three weeks earlier, Dixon led her team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, capping a Cinderella season.
• BU head coach Kim Mulkey has played in Madison Square garden twice but never coached there. Louisiana Tech posted two wins over Rutgers in the facility as part of the Manufacturer's Hanover Tournament, a 67-60 win on Dec. 13, 1980, and an 83-73 triumph on Dec. 19, 1981.
• This will be the Lady Bears' third trip to New York City: Army (2005), St. John's (2007). BU is 2-0 in NYC.
• Three Lady Bears are averaging double-digit scoring. Freshman post Brittney Griner leads the team with 16.0 points a game while junior guard Melissa Jones tallies 13.5 and senior Morghan Medlock is averaging 12.6.
• BU freshman post Brittney Griner become just the seventh female to dunk in a regular-season NCAA contest when she threw one down against Jacksonville State on Nov. 24. She is also a defensive threat as a shot blocker and alterer with her 88" wing span.
• In 10 seasons under head coach Kim Mulkey, Baylor is 244-67 (.785), which ranks her No. 4 nationally in winning percentage. In addition, the Lady Bear program ranks No. 6 among the NCAA Division I's winningest teams over that span.
• Melissa Jones, Brittney Griner and Morghan Medlock combine for 24.2 (50.5%) of BU's 47.9 rebounds a game.
§ Baylor's five starters, Kelli Griffin, Shanay Washington, Melissa Jones, Morghan Medlock and Brittney Griner are shooting a combined 51.9 percent (165-318) from the floor.
• As a team, Baylor ranks among the top 50 in NCAA Division I statistics in 11categories, including six categories among the top seven.
FRESHMEN PRODUCING
All five of the team's freshmen are averaging 3.1 or more points a game. Brittney Griner leads the rookies with 16.0 a contest, Shanay Washington averages 8.9 points, Jordan Madden manages 7.3 a game, Kimetria Hayden scores 4.3 an outing and Mariah Chandler follows with 3.1 a contest.
All five average 9.9 or more minutes an outing, and two, Griner and Washington, are in the starting lineup.
CAN WE BE OF ASSISTANCE
Baylor players are dishing it out this season. In its eight games, Baylor has collected assists on 149 of the team's 249 field goals made which accounts for assists on 59.8 percent of its shots.
Eight of Baylor's 13 players have dished out eight or more assists on the season. Point guard Kelli Griffin leads the squad with 47, followed by Melissa Jones' 28. Off the bench, Terran Condrey has delivered 14 assists while Morghan Medlock follows with 11 and Shanay Washington has doled out 10.
REBOUNDING EXCELLENCE
Baylor has outrebounded its opponent in seven of eight games this year and is averaging a Big 12 Conference-leading 47.9 a game.
Senior forward Morghan Medlock (9.3 rpg), freshman post Brittney Griner (8.4 rpg) and junior guard Melissa Jones (6.5 rpg) are Baylor's top rebounders and combine to average 24.2 rebounds a game which equates to 50.5 percent of the squad's boards. The trio ranks No. 3, No. 6 and No. 18, respectively, among the Big 12 leaders.

In fact, seven Lady Bears who average over 13 minutes a game are shooting above 45 percent. Ashley Field is shooting an impressive .725 (29-40), followed by Shanay Washington at .561 (32-57), Melissa Jones with .552 (37-67), Morghan Medlock at .535 (38-71), Jordan Madden at .488 (20-41), Brittney Griner with .482 (40-83) and Kelli Griffin manages .450 (18-40).
