BAYLOR VS. INCARNATE WORD CARDINALS
Baylor and the Incarnate Word Cardinals meet for the first time in an exhibition contest. The game marks Baylor's second and final exhibition game of the season.

THE LADY BEARS
The Lady Bears come into their final exhibition contest after defeating St. Edward's, 97-43, on Tuesday in the Ferrell Center.

Against St. Edward's, five Lady Bears contributed double-digit scoring. Junior Melissa Jones led the Lady Bears with 20 points while freshman post Brittney Griner added 13, senior forward Morghan Medlock contributed 12, sophomore post Ashley Field and freshman guard Kimetria Hayden each tallied 11. Freshman forward Mariah Chandler led all rebounders with 12 and Field added nine. The Lady Bears were hot from the floor, hitting 39-of-64 (.609) which included Jones' perfect 8-of-8 from the floor and 3-for-3 from beyond the arch.

THE CARDINALS
The Incarnate Word Cardinals (UIW), an NCAA Division II school in San Antonio, Texas, are members of the Heartland Conference. Five starters and eight letterwinners return off last year's squad that finished 21-9. The Cardinals made their first NCAA Tournament appearance last season after a second-place league finish and a conference tournament title. With all five starters returning, Incarnate Word has been voted the league's preseason favorite.

The Cardinals enter the contest with one game under their belt, an 81-52 loss at Louisiana Tech. Center Hayley Harvey led UIW with 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Senior guard Nia Torru scored 14 points, hauled down three rebounds and collected four assists in the contest. Jasmine Smith, a senior guard, grabbed nine rebounds to go with her seven points. Incarnate Word was outscored 50-to-20 in the first half, but managed to outplay Louisiana Tech, 32-31 in the second half.

Cardinals head coach Angela Lawson played for Louisiana Tech and helped the team win an NCAA national championship in 1988, Lawson's senior season. While Lawson was a Lady Techster, Leon Barmore was the team's head coach and Kim Mulkey was an assistant coach. In addition, Lawson spent six seasons as a Lady Bear assistant coach (1994-2000) before accepting the head coaching position at Incarnate Word.

Another Cardinal staffer has Baylor ties, Jessica Morrow (2005-09), a graduate assistant for coach Lawson's squad, recently completed her four-year Lady Bear career. Morrow's 1,312 career points rank No. 17 on Baylor's all-time scoring list while her 122 games started puts her at No. 2 all-time and her 130 games played ranks her No. 7.

UP NEXT
Baylor's regular season gets underway Nov. 15 when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., to take on the Tennessee Lady Vols in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic. The contest will be televised on ESPN2 and will tip off at 4 p.m. (CT).
