Coming off of a 47-14 loss to No. 2 Texas, Art Briles and the Baylor football team now will hit the road to take on Texas A&M at Kyle Field on Saturday afternoon. The game will not be televised.
Here are Briles' thoughts on Baylor's 47-14 loss to Texas on Saturday and the upcoming road game:
On the pace of the Texas offense...
"They played a little more (up-tempo on offense) then what they have been doing this season. They have done it in the past but they were a little quicker, especially down in the red-zone when we weren't able to switch personnel."
On playing at A&M and the environment at Kyle Field...
"We have to go to (Texas) A&M and we have to take care of business there--that is the driving force. We have to move on. We played a good football team and we didn't play real well. They won, we didn't. Now we have to go to the next page. The atmosphere and environment at (Texas A&M) shouldn't affect us because we have been to a couple of venues on the road that are pretty good venues."
On the players drive for a bowl game...
"(Going to a bowl game) has always been on the back of their minds. The driving force of course is just competing and playing hard to get victories. The beauty of playing is having the opportunity to improve physically and mentally and fighting hard for victories. That is why you play the game and then the end results come through that process. We have done enough to set us up with a good end result at this stage in the season. We need to go to A&M and take the next step."
On the blocked punt...
"Yesterday it was a breakdown up front. Derek (Epperson) got the punt off in less than 2.1 seconds which is really good. We didn't do a good job of sealing up front. If we step six more inches and clutch a little harder, it is not an issue. We didn't do that and consequently they got a piece of it and we were fortunate that it went forward."
On the play of Nick Florence against the Texas defense...
"Without a doubt every time that you step on the field it is a learning experience for everybody that is involved. Honestly I thought he battled hard. We had a couple of misfortunate things that happened early. Other than that I thought he kept his composure over the course of the game."
