WACO, Texas (AP) - Baylor surrendered 40 first-half points to the nation's second-ranked team as the Bears dropped their home finale to the Texas Longhorns, 47-14, Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium.

Colt McCoy tied the NCAA record for career victories by a starting quarterback, throwing two touchdown passes in the victory. McCoy left the game midway through the third quarter with 181 yards on 23 of 34 passing. Texas (10-0, 6-0 Big 12) led 40-0 by halftime with McCoy throwing touchdown passes of three and seven yards to Jordan Shipley. Cody Johnson ran for 109 yards and two short touchdowns and Tre' Newton added a 45-yard scoring run.

"We see a bunch of good defenses and they (Texas) were a good defense today," Baylor head coach Art Briles said. "Honestly, I think Nick (Florence) got rattled a little bit and rightfully so."

Baylor (4-6, 1-5) responded with a long drive to the Texas 4-yard line. Baylor freshman quarterback Nick Florence threw an interception to Aaron Williams in the end zone. A week after setting the school's single-game mark for passing yards, Florence finished with 240 yards passing with three interceptions.

Baylor lost all momentum when Texas stuffed the Bears at midfield on fourth down on the next drive. Given the short field, the Longhorns made it 14-0 on Johnson's 10th touchdown of the season. Newton soon made it 21-0 with Texas' longest scoring run of the season.

"I think this was definitely not the way the seniors were hoping to go out," Baylor senior linebacker Joe Pawelek said. "You have to give Texas credit. We definitely did not have perfect communication on defense out there, but they came out there and were ready to go early."

Texas' top-ranked defense forced four turnovers and the Bears actually went backward in the second quarter, losing 20 yards. On Texas' five touchdown drives, three started in Baylor territory.

A fumble by Terrance Ganaway at the Baylor 20 bounced all the way back into the end zone to force a safety. A Texas field goal in the final seconds of the half made it 40-0.

Eddie Jones capped the Texas scoring with a 60-yard interception return in the fourth.

Kendall Wright led all Baylor receivers with seven catches for 57 yards. David Gettis added five catches for 40 yards on Senior Day.
