WACO, Texas - Senior Csilla Borsanyi battled back to win the HEB Baylor Invitational singles title over Texas A&M's Elze Potgieter on Sunday at the Baylor Tennis Center.
Potgieter, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, controlled the first set, dropping only one game to win 6-1. In the second set, Borsanyi turned the tables with a 6-3 win, then kept her momentum rolling in the third set, closing it out with another 6-3 win.
"What a great championship match, Csilla and Elze played some unbelievable tennis today," Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano said. "I really like the way Csilla competed throughout the whole event, and to come back and beat a player of Elze's caliber is very impressive."
Earlier in the day, Borsanyi defeated Rice's Rebekka Hanle in the semifinal round in three sets. Borsanyi took the first 6-1, dropped the second 4-6, but took the match in the third 6-4.
Baylor's women's tennis team will wrap up fall action at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in New Haven, Conn. Senior Lenka Broosova will represent the Bears at the tournament.
