Final Stats

TULSA, Okla.- Jordan Rux was knocked out of the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships Friday with a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Eric Quigley of Kentucky at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The skies cleared enough for the match to be played outdoors, after rain forced opening round action of the tournament to be played inside. Rux, the 27th-ranked player in the ITA preseason rankings, fell behind early and was unable to recover against the 70th-ranked Quigley.

"Jordan ran into a really good player today," assistant coach Chris Brandi said. "They played outdoors and it was fairly tough conditions. Quigley did a better job of sticking with his game plan. He was just the better player today."

The loss was Rux's first of the fall season moving his record to 7-1.

"Jordan has just got to keep doing a better job emotionally during the matches," Brandi said. "Tennis wise Jordan is as good as anybody, he just has to find a way to sustain his level throughout a match and throughout a tournament."

Quigley has now won five straight matches including a straight set victory over the No. 1 player in the country, Oleksandr Nedovyesov, on Thursday.

The D'Novo All-American Tennis Championships, held for the third straight year in Tulsa, entails five days of qualifying events. It began with a 256-player pre-qualifying singles tournament on Oct. 3-4. The top 16 pre-qualifiers fed into the 128-player qualifying tournament on Oct. 5-7, which then fed 16 players into the 64-player main draw on Oct. 8-11.
