The Baylor soccer team (5-3-3, 1-2-1) will hit the road to face Nebraska (7-2-3,,1-1-1) Friday at 4:00 p.m. and continue the road swing with a match against Iowa State(6-3-4, 1-2-0) Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Bears last Big 12 road victory came at Nebraska on Oct. 19, 2007.
"We need to become a better road team," head coach Marci Jobson said. "This is going to be a very challenging weekend and we need to be focused to come away successful."
The Bears are coming off a 1-1 weekend that saw BU fall at Texas Tech 1-0 and come back home for a 2-1 victory over Colorado.The goals were the first in nine conference games for Baylor. The Bears lead the Big 12 in goals against (7) and goals against average (0.59). Baylor is ranked 22nd nationally in GAA, while Gianna Quintana's 0.59 GAA ranks her 21st in the country. The Bears have shutout 5-of-11 opponents this season.
Nebraska has been very strong at home, posting 6-0-1 mark this season. Last weekend, the Huskers defeated Green Bay (3-1) and Oklahoma State (2-0) in the beginning portion of a four-game homestand that concludes this week. Freshman Morghan Marlborough (16 goals and four assists) leads the nation in numerous categories including goals (16), goals per game (1.333), points (36) and points per game (3.00).
Iowa State enters the weekend with a 5-0-1 home record on the year after defeating Oklahoma State and Northern Iowa last week. The Cyclones are led by Amanda Woelfel, who has four goals and two assists, and goalkeeper Ann Gleason's 0.79 GAA.
