Following a 34-7 homecoming loss to Oklahoma State, the Bears will host Big 12 North foe Nebraska, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The early morning matchup will be televised nationally on Versus.
Here are Art Briles' Sunday thoughts on the Bears' loss to Oklahoma State as well as Saturday's upcoming game against Nebraska.
On the defense needing to create more turnovers...
"You are always looking to create turnovers on the defensive side of the ball. That is something that we continually work on, coach and talk about. That is a great way of creating momentum for your football team."
On the play of Nick Florence against Oklahoma State...
"I want to be fair to him. For the most part he does what we ask him to do, and that is all you can really ask of any player. He is competing hard and trying hard to do the right thing at the right time. He got a little bit ahead of himself a couple of times yesterday in some situations that I don't think will ever happen again because Nick is the type of guy that if you tell him once it sticks--through experience comes better outcome."
On the intensity of the team...
"We are scrapping our tails off. We are fighting for respect. We are fighting hard to get a win. That's not going to be an issue."
On failing to establish a rushing attack...
"We've got to (improve the running game). What you can't do is stubbornly hit your head against the wall which we might have on that first possession. We feel like we will see vast improvement, we really do. We have to be more active and determined up front. You have to get a push."
On the progress Florence has made in three starts...
"I see some progress, I really do. He can definitely get the job done that is not an issue. What we have to do is help him with the running game and take a load off of him where he doesn't feel like he has to make a play to make something work."
