EUGENE, Ore. - Nichole Jones placed 11th and Erin Bedell was three spots back in 14th to help 14th-ranked Baylor to a third-place finish at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore.

Baylor scored 86 points with each of the top five runners finishing in the top 30 spots. Villanova took top honors at the meet with 22 points, defeating meet-host Oregon, who had 41 points.

"We had a good day, Villanova ran incredible," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We had a whole bunch of girls get personal bests."

Jones was the top finisher for the Bears in 11th with a time of 16:56.23 over five kilometers, while Bedell, in her first race of the season, was 14th at 17:07.83.

Freshman Stephanie Morgan ran solidly with a time of 17:24.95 in 21st, two spots ahead of Danielle Bradley, who finished in 17:26.93. Cate Westenhover placed 27th with a time of 17:31.24 to round out the Bears' top-five.

"We had a good spread between our first and fifth runners, only 35 seconds, so we felt like we did well," Harbour said.

The Bears will be back in action in two weeks, splitting the squads to run at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., and the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. Both meets are scheduled for Oct. 17.
