Box Score

AMES, Iowa - The Baylor soccer team (6-3-4, 2-2-2) used two goals from junior Lotto Smith and a pair of assists from Dana Larsen en route to a 3-1 victory over Iowa State (6-5-4, 1-4) at the ISU Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon. The Bears unbeaten streak now moves to three games.

"We have really been concentrating on being a better team on the road," head coach Marci Jobson said. "Our team attacked well today, scored some great goals and I am very proud of them."

Baylor leaped out to an early lead for the third-consecutive game, as Larsen lofted a perfectly placed ball into the box that found the head of a leaping Smith for a 1-0 advantage in the 12th minute.

The Bears' defense held ISU to just two shots in the opening half, while getting off seven of their own.

BU turned up the heat in the second half with a goal by Larsen in the 54th minute, her first of the season, as the freshman dribbled across the penalty box and fired the ball in for a 2-0 lead.

The Larsen/Smith duo came through again in the 62nd minute, as Larsen crossed the ball in to Smith, who knew what to do with it from there, notching her seventh goal of the season and a 3-0 lead.

The Cyclones' Casey Bothwell thwarted Baylor's shutout attempt in the 68th minute, collecting a rebound and scoring from just outside the penalty box.

Baylor will host a pair of conference games, welcoming Missouri on Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. then finishing the weekend with a match against Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1:00 p.m.
