No. 7 Baylor 95, Texas State 55
Ferrell Center- Waco, Texas

January 03, 2009 - Att. 6,054

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

On the game:"We are going to push it when we can. I was honestly surprised and a little concerned with fatigue because we practiced four hard days and this was our fifth day back. We have really done nothing but work on defense in practice and I think that you saw some of that with the press. We just want to try and get them to understand the value on the defensive end of the floor."

On Rachel Allison:
"Rachel has won a lot of basketball games at Baylor. People love her; teammates love her because she plays so hard. When you play hard and you have an off night you still love her because she gives you everything she has. Just like (Jessica) Morrow they have had an outstanding career and they have certainly made me look like a better coach than I am because of all of the points that they have scored."

On the up-tempo play:
"We are going to push it and we work on that all of the time. I think what we have to do is to make sure that our bigs run the floor. They are not use to running from foul line to foul line when they come out of high school. Kelli (Griffin) and Jhas (Jhasmin Player) can push it all they want, but if they don't have those bigs running the floor, we end up having to wait for them. It makes us a better team."

Post Danielle Wilson

On the up-tempo play:
"In practice, we know that we have to expect that from the guards because they are going to look to pass the ball up the floor and we better get down there or we are not getting any layups or anything. They are always mindful to look for us if we are running the floor."

Forward Morghan Medlock

On the importance of getting playing time:
"With everything that I have going on off of the court, I am really at peace. I am praying that (Coach Mulkey) puts me into the game so that I am not sitting thinking about everything that has happened. Once I get out there I think my adrenaline and my teammates intensity helps a lot, so I just go out there and have fun."

Forward Rachel Allison

On joining the 1,000-point club:
"It was exciting tonight but I have to keep playing. It is just a couple of points and there will be more people to get it and I am just glad that I am on the list."
