WACO, Texas - Equestrian coach Ellen White announced the signing of four student-athletes, two English and two Western riders, to the program's 2009-10 class.
"This the first year that we are losing seniors and actually needing girls to come in and take their places," White said. "We are looking forward to these girls, as well as the other girls we are signing in April."
Pamela Evans - Western - Boring, Ore. (Clackamas HS) - Rode on the Paint Horse Circuit for nine years. 2006 Western Pleasure Circuit Champion; 2007 Hunter under Saddle Circuit Champion and 14-18 all around reserve state champion. Plans on competing in the 2008 World Championship Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth, Texas.
Taylor Pfaff-Brown - English - Palmyra, Va. (St. Anne's-Belfield School) - 2006 - Circuit Champion Large Junior Hunters at Vermont Summer Festival; finished third overall in the Large Juniors at Junior Hunter Finals; earned ribbons in the Large Juniors at PA National ; Reserve Champion Large Junior at WIHS. 2007 - Finished third in the Maclay at Devon; finished first in the WIHS Jumper and USET at Saratoga. 2008 - Finished fifth in the USEF Medal at Devon; earned first place in the Maclay and USEF at the Vermont Summer Festival; qualified for Maclay Nationals and USEF Medal Finals.
Dominique Pollett - English - Coto de Caza, Calif. (Santa Margarita Catholic HS) - Won the Oaks Blenheim Children's Hunter Classic in 2005. Named Interscholastic Equestrian League Hunter Seat Equitation Champion and Novice Equitation on the Flat and over Fences Champion in 2006. Earned first place in 2007 Orange County Horse Show Association Horsemanship Medal.
Olivia Rogers - Western - Lone Star, Texas (Hughes Springs HS) - In 2005, won the Congress Champion AQHA Reining and was the Houston Livestock Show Western Riding Champion. Three-time World Show Qualifier in Reining. Rode for the championship spot in the Fort Worth Stock Show Circuit in Reining in 2007 and also garnered honors in the state 4-A Western Pleasure ROM in Reining.
Baylor will be back in action Sat. Jan. 31, at 9 a.m. with a double-header against Delaware State and Southern Methodist at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
