BAYLOR VOLLEYBALL SET FOR OREGON CLASSIC After hosting two weekend tournaments for the first time in program history, the Baylor volleyball team is back in action this weekend as the Bears travel to Eugene, Ore. to participate in the Oregon Classic. Baylor will face Eastern Washington at 4:30 p.m. Pacific time on Friday. The Bears will then face UNLV at 10:30 a.m. and host Oregon at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Baylor is coming off a team championship in the Baylor Classic, winning all four matches by a combined score of 12-1. The Bears used sweeps over Weber State, San Diego State and UTSA before defeating Rice 3-1 to claim its second-straight tournament title of the season. The Bears are off to a 7-0 record this year, their best start since 2001 when Baylor won its first eight matches. Live stats will be available on Oregon's official athletics website GoDucks.com. Oregon will also offer live video for monthly subscribers to its premium content. Live audio broadcasts of all Baylor matches will be available at BaylorBears.com.

LAST YEAR AT THE OREGON CLASSIC This weekend's tournament will be the first time that Baylor has competed in the Oregon Classic. The Bears have made two previous trips to Oregon, playing at the University of Portland Tournament in 1991 and the Nike Collegiate Tournament in 1993. At the University of Portland Tournament, Baylor dropped all four matches, including a 3-1 loss to the host team to start the 1991 season. At the Nike Collegiate Tournament hosted by Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., Baylor dropped three-straight matches, including a 3-0 loss to 20th-ranked Georgia. Baylor faced Oregon State on three occasions during the 1993 season, its only three meetings with Oregon's in-state rival. The Bears dropped the match in Corvallis, as well as another preseason match against the Beavers at the Kansas State Invitational. Baylor then defeated 23rd-ranked Oregon State 3-1 at the NIVC Tournament in Kansas City. Baylor has faced Oregon on three occasions, including last season's 3-0 loss to the Ducks in Waco. The Bears lost two neutral site matches with Oregon, 3-0 in Portland during the 1991 season, and 3-1 in 1994 at the UC-Santa Barbara Classic.

LAST TIME OUT Katie Sanders recorded 17 kills and added 14 digs as the Baylor volleyball team held on to defeat Rice 3-1 (25-14, 25-18, 16-25, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon at the Baylor Classic. With the win Baylor finishes the weekend tournament with a 4-0 record to win the team championship. With the win, Baylor improves to 7-0 on the season, the third-best start in program history. The Bears started the season with eight straight wins in 2001 and 1999, and recorded seven straight victories to open the season in 1989. Sanders' 17 kills came against just four hitting errors in 34 total attempts for a .382 hitting percentage. Anna Breyfogle also reached double-digit kills with 14 kills. Taylor Barnes added seven kills on .429 hitting. Allison King led the back row defense with 17 digs, while Sanders and Barnes recorded 14 digs apiece. Baylor collected 61 digs to Rice's 67 digs, the first time this season that Baylor has recorded fewer digs than its opponents. Sanders was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Barnes was selected to the all-tournament team.
